DCM Sistemes SAC1010A-630i Compact Coaxial Light (Red 630nm)

SAC1010A-630i

The DCM Sistemes SAC1010A is the compact coaxial family member with external dimensions 150x112x108 mm and a 100x100 mm illuminated area, offered in 470/525/630/850 nm, RGB and white; this variant is red 630 nm. It runs from 24 VDC and supports continuous, strobe and iBlueDrive modes with chassis connectors (2P continuous, 3P iBlueDrive, 4P for RGB strobe). The -630i iBlueDrive variant draws 13 W and supports NPN/PNP/TTL continuous, dim or strobe operation (factory 47 pulses/s, up to 5000 pulses/s). Protection rating is IP40.

Technical overview

The SAC1010A-630i is a compact coaxial (on-axis, or axial diffused) illuminator: a 45-degree beamsplitter inside the housing turns light so it travels out along the same optical path the camera looks down. The practical consequence is that the camera sees light reflected straight back from surfaces perpendicular to the lens, while light that hits angled or textured features scatters away and returns dark. On flat, specular material this gives an evenly lit, glare-free, shadowless field, which is exactly why coaxial geometry is the standard choice for shiny, mirror-like or reflective parts where a ring or bar light would throw hot spots. The red 630 nm emission is the broadly useful, high-contrast default for monochrome inspection, and this unit illuminates a 100x100 mm area through a diffused axial window, so the part being inspected should sit within that square footprint directly beneath the light.

Because the light is delivered down the lens axis, the camera mounts above the light looking through it, and the part is placed below. The illuminated 100x100 mm field defines the usable inspection area, and the camera and lens should be chosen so the field of view matches that area. The 150x112x108 mm housing must be accommodated in the gap between camera and part. This is a 24 VDC unit drawing 13 W in the -630i iBlueDrive configuration, and it does not need a separate external controller: the iBlueDrive drive electronics are integrated, so it connects directly to a camera or trigger source through its 3-pin aerial connector. It supports continuous, dimmed and strobe operation with NPN, PNP or TTL triggering, shipping with a factory strobe rate of 47 pulses per second and capable of up to 5000 pulses per second, which lets it freeze motion on moving lines or hold steady illumination for stationary checks.

The family is offered in 470 nm blue, 525 nm green, 630 nm red, 850 nm IR, RGB and white; this part is fixed at red 630 nm, so wavelength-based contrast tuning happens at purchase time, not in the field. Protection is rated IP40, which means it is built for clean, enclosed indoor inspection cells rather than washdown or dusty open-shop environments. Paired with a monochrome camera and a matching red bandpass filter, the on-axis red output is well suited to reading marks, codes and surface defects on flat reflective substrates where any off-axis lighting would wash out in glare.

Best for

  • Reading laser-etched or printed 2D codes and OCR marks on shiny metal nameplates, electronic component bodies or polished labels where off-axis light would glare out the characters
  • Surface-defect inspection of flat reflective parts such as stamped or machined metal, where on-axis light makes scratches, dents and tool marks appear dark against an evenly lit bright background
  • AI-based defect inspection in electronics assembly, lighting PCB pads, connector contacts and solder areas with shadowless red light for consistent training and inference images
  • Traceability and code-grading stations in automotive component lines, where direct-part-marked codes on specular surfaces need uniform, glare-free illumination
  • Print and label inspection in packaging, verifying date codes or graphics on glossy film or coated card without specular hot spots

Selection notes

  • Size your camera and lens so the field of view fits inside the 100x100 mm illuminated area; the part to inspect must lie within that footprint directly under the light, and the 150x112x108 mm body needs clearance in the camera-to-part gap.
  • This is on-axis geometry for flat, specular surfaces. If your part is curved, deeply textured or matte, a ring, dome or bar light will usually give better contrast than coaxial, so confirm the surface is reasonably flat and reflective before designing it in.
  • Wavelength is fixed at red 630 nm on this variant. Pair it with a monochrome camera and a red bandpass filter to maximize contrast and reject ambient light; if you need blue, green, IR, white or RGB, select the corresponding family member instead since it cannot be changed later.
  • No external controller is required: the integrated iBlueDrive accepts 24 VDC and NPN, PNP or TTL trigger signals over a 3-pin aerial connector, so plan the wiring to drive it directly from the camera strobe output or another trigger source. Use strobe mode (up to 5000 pulses/s) for moving lines and continuous or dimmed mode for stationary inspection.
  • Rated IP40, so it is intended for clean, enclosed indoor cells. For wet, dusty or washdown environments choose a higher-IP enclosure or a sealed alternative.
