BKL4005A
The BKL4005A is a rectangular ultra-diffuse backlight measuring 404 x 66 x 22 mm with a 50 x 400 mm active emitting surface, designed to produce high-contrast silhouettes for edge detection and measurement. It is offered in blue (470 nm), green (525 nm), red (630 nm), infrared (850 nm) and white (W00) versions and in three operating types: Continuous (C), iBlueDrive (i) and Strobe (S). All versions run on 24 VDC (±3% continuous, ±8% iBlueDrive); the continuous version connects via a 2-pole on-chassis connector with no external driver, the strobe version requires an external strobe controller, and the iBlueDrive version uses a 3-pole 150 mm aerial connector. An optional /65A modifier provides an IP65 rating.
The BKL4005A is an ultra-diffuse LED backlight from DCM Sistemes built around a 50 x 400 mm active emitting surface inside a 404 x 66 x 22 mm housing. As a backlight, its job is not to illuminate a part's surface but to sit behind or beneath it and flood the field with even, directionless light so the object reads as a black silhouette against a uniform bright field. The long, narrow 50 x 400 mm aperture is the defining trait: it is tuned to back-light elongated parts, parts moving along a conveyor lane, or a row of features that must be measured across a wide field in a single 400 mm-long pass. The ultra-diffuse emitting surface (the diffuser spec is explicitly present) is what makes silhouette edges crisp and repeatable, which is the precondition for any sub-pixel edge-detection or dimensional gauging algorithm to return stable numbers.

A practical guide to machine vision lighting geometries — ring, bar, backlight, coaxial, dome and dark field — explaining what each reveals, the surfaces it suits, and how to choose the right one directly from your inspection problem.
A practical guide to continuous, strobed, and overdrive LED lighting in machine vision: why a short pulse freezes motion, why overdrive (not strobing alone) adds brightness, how to synchronize the pulse to camera exposure, the duty-cycle limits that protect LED life, and how to size and select a lighting controller.
