boA6500-36cm
The Basler boost boA6500-36cm is a high-resolution area scan camera featuring the onsemi XGS 32000 monochrome CMOS sensor in APS-C format (26.3 mm diagonal) with global shutter and 3.2 µm pixels. It outputs 6580 x 4935 pixels (32.4 MP) at up to 35 fps over a single-channel CoaXPress CXP-12 interface running at 2.5-12.5 Gbps. The universal camera front supports F-mount and M42 lens mounts, and power is supplied via PoCXP or 24 VDC through the I/O connector. It conforms to CoaXPress 2.0 and GenICam standards with a typical power draw of about 9.8 W.
The Basler boost boA6500-36cm is built around the onsemi XGS 32000 monochrome CMOS sensor, an APS-C-format imager (21 x 15.8 mm, 26.3 mm diagonal) carrying 6580 x 4935 pixels for a 32.4 MP frame. This is a global-shutter sensor: every pixel is exposed simultaneously, so fast-moving parts on a conveyor or indexing stage are captured without the skew and smear a rolling shutter would introduce. The 3.2 um pixel pitch is fine enough to resolve small defects and fine geometry across the large array, which is why this area scan camera sits in the high-resolution inspection category rather than serving as a general-purpose machine-vision camera.

When 20+ MP cameras earn their place in inspection: sensor formats, the optics and MTF challenge, bandwidth and interfaces, lighting uniformity, and single high-res vs multi-camera.
A practical decision guide to the three dominant machine-vision interfaces: bandwidth, cable length, multi-camera support, PoE, latency, frame grabber needs and cost.
How global and rolling shutters differ, why rolling shutter distorts moving objects, and when each is the right choice for industrial inspection.
