The E193 (P/N 959933042) is part of Datasensing's E100/E-Series GigE Vision camera family, delivering 2048x1536 grayscale images at 35 full-resolution FPS from a 1/1.8" global-shutter CMOS sensor with 3.45 µm square pixels. It connects over Gigabit Ethernet (1000 Base-T) using a single PoE cable that carries both video and power, and uses a C-mount lens interface. The compact 42 x 29 x 29 mm housing is rated IP30 and operates from 0 to 50 degrees C, and the camera is designed to work with the Datalogic MX-E vision system and Impact software.

The Datasensing E193 (P/N 959933042, CAM-E193-GE) pairs a 1/1.8-inch global-shutter CMOS sensor of the Sony Pregius 2nd-generation IMX265 class with a 2048 x 1536 (3.1 MP) monochrome readout running at 35 frames per second at full resolution. The global shutter is the defining trait here: every pixel is exposed simultaneously, so parts moving on a conveyor, indexing on a rotary table, or passing a fixed station are captured without the skew and smear that a rolling shutter would introduce. Combined with the monochrome sensor, which devotes every pixel to luminance rather than splitting it across a color filter array, the E193 delivers crisp, high-contrast grayscale frames that are well matched to edge-based gauging, defect detection, and character reading. The 3.45 µm square pixels on the 1/1.8-inch format give a roughly 7.1 x 5.3 mm active image area, which is the number you anchor lens and field-of-view calculations to.
The interface is GigE Vision over 1000 Base-T running the GenICam/GigE Vision protocol stack, and the camera draws its power over the same Ethernet cable through Power-over-Ethernet. That single-cable PoE arrangement is a real installation advantage: one Cat-class cable carries both the image stream and the supply, so there is no separate power harness or breakout to route, and the standard 100 m reach of Gigabit Ethernet lets the camera sit far from the controller or switch. Gigabit Ethernet comfortably carries this 3.1 MP grayscale stream at the rated 35 FPS, and because it is standard GigE Vision/GenICam, the E193 drops into any GenICam-compliant acquisition environment as well as the Datalogic MX-E vision system and Impact software it is designed around.
Mechanically the E193 is a compact 42 x 29 x 29 mm block with a C-mount lens interface, so it accepts the broad ecosystem of C-mount optics; the lens just needs to cover the 1/1.8-inch sensor and resolve the 3.45 µm pixel pitch to extract the full 2048 x 1536 detail. The housing is rated IP30, which means it is protected against solid objects but not against water or washdown, so it belongs in a controlled cabinet, enclosure, or relatively clean line position rather than a wet or dusty environment. It operates from 0 to 50 degrees C. Because the sensor is monochrome and the camera carries no integrated illumination, lighting is a deliberate design choice: the global shutter pairs naturally with strobed or triggered LED illumination synchronized to exposure, freezing motion and stabilizing brightness frame to frame.
Best for
Inline defect and surface inspection on moving product, where the global shutter freezes motion and the 3.1 MP monochrome frame resolves fine flaws without color-filter blur
Industrial OCR/OCV and printed-mark reading on packaging, labels, and components, leveraging high-contrast grayscale imaging at 35 FPS
1D/2D code traceability reading where crisp global-shutter capture of codes on indexing or conveyed parts is required
Dimensional measurement and edge-based gauging, using the 2048 x 1536 resolution and 3.45 µm pixels with a calibrated C-mount lens
Packaging and electronics line inspection stations where a single PoE cable simplifies wiring and the compact 42 x 29 x 29 mm body fits tight fixtures
Selection notes
Verify the IP30 rating fits the environment: it is enclosure/cabinet grade with no protection against water, washdown, or fine dust, so plan a housing or a clean line position rather than direct exposure.
Budget your field of view and working distance against the 1/1.8-inch sensor (about 7.1 x 5.3 mm) and 3.45 µm pixels, and choose a C-mount lens that both covers the format and resolves that pitch to realize the full 2048 x 1536 detail.
Plan illumination deliberately: this is a monochrome camera with no onboard lighting, so pair it with external LED lighting and use strobe/exposure triggering to exploit the global shutter and freeze motion.
Confirm your network path supports PoE and Gigabit Ethernet end to end; the single cable delivers both power and the 35 FPS image stream, but the switch port and cabling must supply PoE and sustain 1000 Base-T.
Check software fit: the E193 is built around the Datalogic MX-E vision system and Impact software, and as a standard GigE Vision/GenICam device it also integrates with GenICam-compliant acquisition libraries.
Operating range is 0 to 50 degrees C, so confirm the in-cabinet or in-enclosure temperature stays within that window where the camera is mounted.

Applications this camera is commonly selected for. Open one to see the full recommended hardware and approach.
1. Install the IMPACT Software Suite and connect the camera
Install the IMPACT Software Suite on your PC, which provides both the configuration/viewer tools and the SDK. For a GigE Vision model (E100, M or U series), connect it to a dedicated NIC and, for USB3 models, use a certified USB3 cable and port. Power the camera and confirm it enumerates.
2. Bring the camera online and verify the link
For GigE Vision, put the camera and the host NIC on the same subnet (a static IP on the camera matching the NIC range is the most reliable starting point); for USB3, confirm the device is recognized. Open the IMPACT viewer/device tool, discover the camera, and verify a stable connection before streaming. Enabling jumbo frames on the NIC helps GigE throughput.
3. Set exposure, gain and trigger, then grab a first image
In the IMPACT tools, start a live stream and adjust exposure and gain until the image is well-lit without saturation; set white balance on color models. Begin in free-run (continuous) mode to confirm imaging, then switch to hardware or software trigger as your application requires. Capture and save a reference image once the scene looks correct.
4. Build a vision tool or move to the SDK/API
Use the IMPACT point-and-click vision tools to assemble an inspection, or use the IMPACT SDK to access the camera and results programmatically and feed them into your HMI/PLC application. As these are GenICam/GenTL-compliant devices, you can alternatively drive them from any GenICam-compliant third-party vision library if your pipeline standardizes on one.
5. Route the stable feed to deep-learning inspection (optional)
Once you have a stable, repeatable image, the feed can be sent to a deep-learning inspection platform such as Rosepetal for defect detection or classification tasks that go beyond rule-based tooling. Keep lighting, optics and trigger timing fixed so the images reaching the model stay consistent.
Frequently asked questions
It is monochrome (grayscale). Every pixel captures luminance, which gives high-contrast frames suited to defect detection, gauging, and character/code reading. If you need color discrimination, this model is not the right choice.
Global shutter. All pixels are exposed at the same instant, so parts moving on a conveyor or rotary index are captured without the skew or smear a rolling shutter would introduce.
It delivers 2048 x 1536 pixels (3.1 MP) at 35 frames per second at full resolution, from a 1/1.8-inch Sony Pregius-class (IMX265) CMOS sensor with 3.45 µm square pixels.
It uses GigE Vision over 1000 Base-T (GigE Vision/GenICam protocol) and is powered over Ethernet (PoE), so a single Gigabit cable carries both the image stream and the supply, with the standard 100 m Ethernet reach.
It has a C-mount lens interface, accepting standard C-mount optics that cover the 1/1.8-inch sensor. It is rated IP30, so it is intended for clean or enclosed environments and is not protected against water or washdown.
